We are only starting to understand how important fungi are to life and how critical they are in protecting us from the impacts of climate change. Scientists estimate 2 to 11 million species exist, but only 150,000 are described. Now, the push is on to document as many species as possible. In one of Australia’s wettest years, fungi hunter and photographer Stephen Axford and filmmaker Catherine Marciniak followed the rain to document emerging fungi.
