Temperature measurements in Innsbruck began as early as 1777. How this came about, how measurements were taken back then and how they are taken today will be discussed during a walk through the city from the Geographers' Column to the roof of the Bruno Sander House and during a tour of the modern measuring infrastructure outdoors and in the laboratory. Despite the enormous technical development during this period, there are parallels between the work of atmospheric science in the past and today.
