The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Anton Zeilinger and two other scientists for experiments with entangled photons. One of the key experiments took place across the Technikerstraße Campus of the University of Innsbruck in 1998, namely the first conclusive proof of quantum entanglement over the world record distance of 360 metres. Entanglement is the basis for all quantum technologies and a fundamental natural phenomenon that overturns our classical view of the world. Prof Gregor Weihs, then a member of the Zeilinger team and now Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Innsbruck, will take you to the sites of the experiment: visit the entanglement source and measuring stations on the Technikerstraße campus and follow the path of the light particles through underground corridors.
